Students who are residents or indigenes of Ikorodu have the chance to be beneficiaries of scholarship awards worth N200,000 every academic session.
The scholarship initiative of the Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative Limited/GTE is targeting 12 distinction students for the scholarship awards.
According to the IDPIL/GTE, the award is based on excellent academic performance on a benchmark of a Cummulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.5 for Universities and Distinction for Polytechnics, Monotechnics and Colleges of Education.
Taiwo Hassan Awolaru, Administrative Officer, DPIL/GTE, stated that N2, 400, 000 has been earmarked to cover the 12 Scholarship awardees.
He stated that academic qualification is not the only criteria for the award, but that applicants would have to take an aptitude test and physical interview to merit the award.
For the Bursary, Awolaru stated that it is in two parts with the Bursary 1 for both indigenes and residents with a CGPA of 3.5.
He said that about 100 of them are being targeted and they will get N100,000 each on a one-off basis to give room for others to benefit.
The Bursary 2, one-off as well, is targeted at 154 indigenes alone and to be awarded N50,000 each.
It was gathered that indigenes must evidence their indigeneship while residents must provide their Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) card to prove their residency in Ikorodu.
It was also stated that applicants must be full-time students in 200 Level or above with a verifiable CGPA to be eligible for the scholarship and bursary.
Application can be done via the website.
