Some traders in Ikorodu have revealed that they are yet to get the Permanent Voters Card (PVC).
They said that they have been unable to get it due to time of which they have no one to tend to their business while they go to the centre.
Some others stated that they have gone there, but the crowd at the centres always discourage them whenever they go.
Speaking to a trader, Chinansa Victor, he said that he is yet to collect the PVC, and does not even think he will because there is no time for him to go to the centre to register.
He said, “I have not collected. There is no time for me. Who would stay in the shop if I go? I don’t know when I will go.”
Daniel Hyacinth said that he had gone there before but the crowd over there was the discouraging factor as he got there and met a mammoth crowd that meant he could not get it done that same day.
“I have gone there before, but if you see the crowd there. So I just came back to my shop since I could not wait for something that might not get to my turn and my business is there.
“The same thing for my friends here too. They don’t have PVCs because the crowd therein is just too much.”
Another trader who identified himself as Timothy Okpo said that he has gone to the centre to register for his PVC, and now awaiting collection.
“Yes, I have my PVC, they said they will tell me when to come back for collection. I have not received any message. That’s where I am.”
Gloria Akpan, a trader, spoken to disclosed that she didn’t know where the registration was going on in Ikorodu, proceeding to ask our correspondent how much it was.
Our correspondent fielded her questions and she resolved, alongside her sister, to go register for it the next day.
It will be recalled that on Sunday, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu disclosed that the registration won’t be ending on June 30th even though he didn’t disclose when it will be ending.
