The Ayangbure of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Shotobi, has said that he is not related to popular Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele
It will be recalled that rumours have had it that Akindele will be the running mate of the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr AbdulAzeez Olajide Adediran, popularly called “Jandor”.
The choice is being said to have been made on the claim that Akindele’s mother is the immediate younger sister of the Ayangbure of Ikorodu and that she is from a royal family in Lagos State.
In a statement signed by Otunba Ayodele Elesho, KJW, the Agba Akin of Ikorodu and ex-Commissioner for Information, Lagos State, it was stated that the monarch has no ties with the actress.
The statement reads in part, “I wish to state clearly without any ambiguity that I am not related to Funke Akindele’s mother in any way.
“I am a bonafide son of Lasunwon Ruling House on my father’s side, from where I got the golden opportunity of ascending the throne of Ayangbure of Ikorodu seven years ago. My late mother was equally a bonafide daughter of the Rademo ruling house, and to the best of my knowledge, Funke Akindele’s mother does not belong to either of the two royal families in Ikorodu.
“The palace has demanded that Gazelle News, as well as other social media channels that circulated the story, pull down the report.”
