The leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Imota Branch, has sensitized parents and guardians in secondary school on proper child upbringing.
It says that the key to addressing the security challenges in the community is dependent on how the children are raised.
The programme was in conjunction with the Parents Teachers Forum of Ansar-Ud-Deen Junior Grammar School, Imota.

In a statement signed by the Cordinator, NYCN Imota LCDA Branch, Comrade Folarin Adegboyega, it advised teachers to be friendlier, check the children’s dressings and notebooks, as well as carry out their duties responsibly.
The statement reads, “In furtherance of the resistance campaign against cultism, violence, rape, teenage pregnancy, drug abuse, cybercrime, and other prevalent social vices in our society nowadays, the meeting of the leadership of youth organizations in Imota Local Council Development Area with the Parent Teachers Forum of Ansar-Ud-Deen Junior Grammar School, Imota.

“The sensitization exercise took a new dimension by involving parents and guardians of all the students in the public secondary school with a view of addressing some of the security challenges that have been affecting the peace of the entire community, engaging them on the need to focus more on their primary responsibilities in child upbringing towards achieving a violence-free society, and arresting all the societal ills that have been disturbing the socio-economic development and prosperity of the town.
“The parents, guardians, and teachers present at the meeting were advised to support teachers in discharging their responsibilities, to be more friendly and corporate with them, to always check their child or children’s dressing, notebook, and warn them to desist from sending their wards on unnecessary errands, among others.”
