Residents of Ajegunle Community, Ikorodu have been urged to avoid vote selling before and during the 2023 elections.
Lots Charity Foundation in conjunction with Heinrich Boll Stiftung organized on Saturday a civic engagement forum where it sensitized residents on electoral issues ahead of the election.
Speaking during the event, keybore speaker, Dr. Francis Adeshina stressed that every election carries its consequences, therefore, the people must be deliberate about their choices.
Adeshina said, “The major importance of voting is that you have the power to determine who leads you to your desired future. You can see all that is happening now. It is what you have chosen.”
He said that their votes would either take the community forward or take the community backwards.
He urged all residents who are eighteen and above to go and register for their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) and eschew vote selling.
On his part, the Baale of Ajegunle Community, Chief Moyosola Oladunjoye emphasized the power of the PVC, and how residents must ensure that beyond getting it, they use it.
“Your PVC is powerful. You need it to determine your future. You need it to determine the future of this community. So please, I will urge each and everyone of us, just like our speakers have said to go and register for it and vote the right leaders into power, he said.
Project Manager, Lots Charity Foundation, Salami Damilare stressed the need for residents to play their part in bringing development to the community.
He emphasized that their votes count, stating that if it doesn’t, then politicians would have no need to buy people’s votes.
Damilare encouraged them to not be defeated in seeing that developments become the lots of the community and Nigeria as a whole.
Great reports well-done
