The politician and businessman, Honourable Oluwatosin Onamade, has formally declared his intention to represent Ikorodu Constituency II at the forthcoming Lagos State House of Assembly 2023 elections under the flagship of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Onamade made the declaration on Saturday in the Ijede area of Ikorodu with supporters, community leaders, party members, and other dignitaries in attendance.
Onamade revealed that the prevailing economic conditions affecting the Ikorodu people prompted him to run for the seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
He promised that, upon being elected, he would be a visible, active, and discerning legislator.
He said, “As a man who is highly passionate about public service, I am inspired by the courage and achievements of all the leaders who have charted the path of development for Ikorodu constituency II.

“I assure you that if I am elected as a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly to represent Ikorodu Constituency II, I will be a visible, listening, discerning, and active legislator. I will also contribute my quota to the growth and development of our dear mighty constituency and Lagos State. I will do this and many other great things to fulfill my part of the social contract with the people and collaborate with other arms of government to bring unquantifiable benefits to my people.
“Therefore, I call on leaders, members, and all stakeholders of our great ruling party within the Ikorodu constituency to support my aspiration to be the APC flag-bearer in the coming Lagos State House of Assembly election in 2023.
“I present myself as a capable, courageous, competent, and tested hand to make Ikorodu Constituency II greater for all my constituents, and I declare that I, Oluwatosin Onamade, shall be a true party man and a true representative of my constituents in the state House of Assembly.

“I am sending a clarion call to our party leaders, members, men and women, youth and the elderly, that there is a lot of work to be done to achieve more in Ikorodu constituency II of our dreams. I urge you all to come out to support and vote for me during our party primaries election so that I can be the APC flag-bearer in the Lagos State House of Assembly in the coming general election.”
Also speaking at the event, the APC leader, Adewale Ajala, charged the party supporters to obtain their voters’ cards to elect Onamade as evidence of their support for him.
He said, “Everyone must understand the dynamism of politics. One thing is to shout all day. The other thing is to get your PVC and vote. Being able to vote speaks more volume than chanting Onamade’s name all day.
“If you want to show him that you wish him success all the way, you must ensure that you have your PVC ready for the primaries, get everyone ready and come out en masse to vote in Onamade.
On her part, Princess Ezuma Chinyere, who was present at the event representing the Igbo community in the area, noted the affinity Onamade has for the Igbo residents.
“I came here today because Onamade recognized us. They have been doing flag-offs. Nobody recognized the Igbos. “The Igbos are here today because Onamade recognizes us,” Chinyere said. She urged supporters to give him their full support to ensure that he actualizes his vision for the constituency.
