Two persons have died after multiple crash involving four vehicles occurred in the early hours on Friday on the bridge linking Maryland and Ojota, Ikorodu road.
The vehicles involved in the accident were a tipper, an empty tanker with registration number FKJ-506XM, an articulated flatbed truck filled with metal coils, a grey colored Toyota Camry with registration number ABC-261AJ (Abuja), a tipper with registration number T-12015LA containing with 30 tons of sharp sand and two commercial buses.

It was gathered that a man and a woman died on the spot with the Lagos State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit (SHEMU) taking one of the corpses to the mortuary.

The victims were said to have been on their way back from the market in Mile 12 when the accident occured.
Confirming the incident, the Lagos Terrorial Head of the National Emergency Management Agency, Ibrahim Farinloye said the family members of the second victim came to the scene to carry her corpse.

“A commercial bus coming from mile 12 after early morning purchase wares by six women in the bus. It was revealed that the tipper truck lost control while on high speed and ran into the vehicles, thereby resulting in the multiple accident.
“Unfortunately, two adults (one female and one male) were confirmed dead at the scene. The male adult was handed over to SEHMU at the scene while the female was taken by her immediate family.
“Several persons were also injured and taken to nearby hospitals. LASEMA, NEMA, LASTMA, FRSC, LASAMBUS and Nigeria Police participated in the response.”
