Political stakeholders and candidates have been urged to keep to the zoning system of the Ikorodu Constituency II, Lagos State House of Assembly.
A traditional leader of Ijede, High Chief Aliu Musediku, affirmed that the zoning system must be respected.
Musediku said that there was an agreement to have a rotation of the Lagos State House of Assembly seat among all three parts that make up the constituency.
He said that the agreement was initiated in 1999 when the country returned to civil rule.
“We will not accept any aspirant from other regions, except an indigene of the Ijede community, as agreed by the elders, traditional rulers, and political leaders of Ikorodu Constituency II.”
“It was agreed that the slot should be based on a zoning system among the three regions for justice and fairplay.
“The arrangement started in Ijede with the lawmaker, Mr. Saheed Hassan, who served two terms, and it was later zoned to Igbogbo, where the late Rotimi Sotomiwa represented constituency II at LAHA.
“The second term was completed by Mrs. Adebimbe Akinsola before it was zoned to Imota, where the incumbent, Mr. Nurudeedn Sholaja, emerged as the LAHA member whose tenure is winding up. “It is our turn now to produce a candidate for the zone. No aspirant vying for LAHA will be accepted except the Ijede community for justice and equity,” Chief Musediku stated.
