Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) has flagged off its tomato plantation, intended to meet the demands of the university community and Ikorodu at large.
The plantation is being overseen and carried out by the agribusiness committee of the school.

In a statement on Friday, its Director, Public Relations Office, Olanrewaju Kuye, stated that the plantation, when matured, will be able to meet the demands of the university community in particular, and by extension, Ikorodu.
Kuye added that the committee is also looking at cultivating maize in preparation for its early season.
The statement reads, “To ensure continuity, tomato seedlings are being raised in the nursery awaiting transplanting, to take over from the fruiting ones.
“Averagely, an estimated yield of about 50 to 70 tons of tomato fruits is expected from the plantation.
“Ten hectares of land have been earmarked in readiness for the early season maize and cassava production.”
