The PDP Primary in Ikorodu did not hold after INEC officials failed to show up at the venue on Sunday.
The party’s primary for Ikorodu constituency I was scheduled to take place at the Ikorodu club and despite heavy security presence it was not held.
Delegates and aspirants left the venue around 7pm on Sunday after waiting for hours for INEC officials.
It will be recalled that in line with the timetable released by the National Chairman of the party, Sen. Iyorchia Ayu and Secretary, Sen. Samuel Anyanwu, the election of the PDP candidates for the House of Representatives was slated for Sunday, May 22 while that of the Senate is slated for Monday, May 23.
Reacting to the development, Chairman, Lagos for Lagos, Ikorodu Division, Atoloye Olayiwola stated that there is no cause for alarm and that such incident is not new to politics.
He added that there will be an election in a free and fair state.
“These challenges are normal in politics, and the leadership at the top will find a way of sorting it out. Definitely, there will be an election and nobody is going to impose anyone on anyone.”
Ex-chairman of the PDP Ikorodu, Chief Taiwo Adekogbe who revealed that the election was unable to hold because the Electoral Officer meant to conduct the election was kidnapped.
Adekogbe, however, stated that the election will hold oconsensus candidates would be choosen.
It was also gathered that the party’s primary election for Ikorodu constituency II billed to hold the same day at Imota also failed hold.
