Incumbent senator, Tokunko Abiru on Saturday secured the All Progressive Congress (APC) ticket unopposed to contest for the Lagos East Senatorial seat at the 2023 elections.
Abiru, in the election that held at CMD, Magodo, Lagos, polled 344 votes from 355 delegates accredited for the election.
Delegates who voted cut across the five local governments that made up the Senatorial District: Epe, Ikorodu, Shomolu, Kosofe and Ibeju Lekki.
According to the Returning Officer, Oki Fouad, the election process was in line with the 2022 Electoral Acts.
Senator Abiru, while reacting to his victory, expressed gratitude for the support he received from party’s leaders and members while assuring them of commitment to the mandate.
“I am extremely honored and delighted to be standing before you today to accept the nomination of our great party as the unopposed candidate for the general elections as the candidate for the party to represent Lagos East Senatorial district at the National Assembly.
