Afeez Akolade and Shamsideen Kasumu have both emerged as consensus candidates for the African Action Congress (AAC) to vie for the Lagos State House of Assembly seats for Ikorodu Constituency 1 and 2 respectively.
In the primary election that took place on Tuesday, the state chairman of AAC, Kunle Ajayi declared the duo flagbearers on the ground of consensus.

Reacting to his victory, Akolade appreciated those who stood by him, asserting that the victory is for all.
He said that with faith, resilience and hard work, he will emerge victorious in the 2023 elections.
Akolade said, “First and foremost I give thanks to almighty Allah for making it a successful outing, the journey has not been easy.

“I also deeply appreciate all those who stood by me to emerge victorious: my able chairman, the woman leader, the EXCOs and the party members at large, We have all done wonderfully well.
“I strongly believe that a win for one is a win for all. We might have started this journey like a mere figment of our imagination, but with faith, dedication, resilience, hardwork and drive to create a better Ikorodu Constituency 1, it will definitely end well, and come 2023 we shall be emerge victorious.”
On his part, Kasumu thanked the party leadership and members while assuring that he will be a good ambassador for the party in pursuit of good governance.

He said, “I thank members and leadership of my great revolutionary party,for believing in me,my character, capacity and capability to carry the flag.I promise to be an exemplary ambassador of the party in pursuit of good governance.”
“I call on the great people of Ikorodu to support me in the mission to make Ikorodu greater and also have a very vibrant Lagos House of Assembly with a multiparty structure.”
